University Housing is pleased to provide you with these exciting new developments for the 2010-2011 academic year:

North Quad to Open Learn more…

North Quad will provide a central focal point for international and intercultural programming. This residential and academic complex will provide a highly innovative experience that connects students to their community and the world, fostering intercultural learning and global awareness. North Quad will house the Global Scholars Program; the Max Kade German Program has tentative plans to move there as well. Both programs are Michigan Learning Communities.

Add to this suite-style living with semi-private baths, an in-hall dining center and café, a television production studio, comfortable lounges  and much more. That’s what you can expect at North Quad. Check out Michigan’s newest residence hall….opening for the fall/winter term, 2010. Read more…

Couzens Hall to Close Learn more…

If you love Couzens, start planning now. The hall will close in May 2010 and reopen just in time for Fall Move-in 2011. Improvements will include renovated bathrooms and student rooms, air conditioning throughout, wireless high-speed network access and repurposed community spaces. In addition, upgrades will be made to the plumbing, electrical, heating/ventilation and voice/data lines. A new fire sprinkler system will be also be added.

Sophomore Year Experience Learn more…

Will you be a sophomore or above next year? Consider a move to the newly renovated Stockwell Hall. All Stockwell residents take part in the Sophomore Year Experience (SYE), a community focused on the unique needs and interests of sophomores. As an SYE member, you’ll be presented with many opportunities for personal growth, including:

  • Cultivation of greater awareness of personal beliefs and values.
  • Exploration of academic and career goals.
  • Enhancement of intercultural knowledge and competence.
  • Development of a deeper understanding of personal and civic responsibility.
  • Connection with others in the residential, campus and local communities.

Dining News Learn more…

As you consider where you want to live next year, keep your dining options in mind.  These recent changes may impact your decision.

  • Bursley, Marketplace and South Quad dining halls: Hours have been extended to 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday.
  • West Quad dining hall: Now offering Middle Eastern fare and Halal meats daily at lunch and dinner.
  • Ciao Down Pizzeria, South Quad: Pizzas made to order, plus salads, sandwiches and beverages.
  • East Quad: A new café on the main level features Panini sandwiches and an expanded grill menu.

Living/Learning Communities Learn more…

Like you, some Living/Learning Communities are moving to new living quarters for the 2010/2011 academic year:

  • Michigan Community Scholars Program (MCSP) will be moving from Couzens Hall to to East Quad. Learn more about MCSP.
  • Global Scholars Program will be moving from East Quad to North Quad for the 2010/2011 year. Learn more about the Global Scholars Program.

Need a little privacy? Can’t find a roommate? Learn more…

If you can’t find a roommate (or don’t really want one), sign up for a single room or apartment. With the opening of North Quad, more than 1,500 singles will be available in 2010/2011. So choose one for next year and be the boss of you. Make your own decisions about when to be noisy or quiet, messy or tidy, studious or playful. Keep the lights on all night long or turn in early. But above all, relax, spread out and enjoy your privacy.
